With a 20+ year track record, Estabrook Investors utilizes a fund-of-funds approach to access best in class funds for its investors.
We have a deep commitment to building platforms that will drive positive, and necessary, environmental and social impact alongside financial returns.
Estabrook Absolute Return Fund
Estabrook seeks meaningful outperformance of the risk-free rate over rolling 10 year periods, while seeking lower volatility and reduced risk to principal, compared with equity investments.
Our global, multi-strategy approach allocates our investments among underlying fund managers with stable growth patterns and low volatility as opposed to hedge funds with more aggressive growth patterns, but high level of volatility.
The underlying funds invest in a broad range of strategies which may include event driven, equity long/short, distressed debt, merger arbitrage, credit long/short, real estate and special investments.
Strive to achieve above-market rates of return over time.
Estabrook Absolute Return Fund's managers strive to generate consistent, above market rates of return over the long term regardless of the direction of the market, viewing risk in terms of losing money rather than performance relative to the market.
Obtain results substantially independent from the securities markets.
Absolute return multi-strategy managers use a combination of approaches to exploit inefficiencies and achieve results expected over time to be materially independent from stock and bond market movements. When stock market conditions are poor, these managers are better positioned to protect assets and generate positive returns than are traditional equity managers. When market conditions are strong, these managers can be expected to generate reasonable returns, although perhaps below those of traditional marketable securities.
Maintain low volatility to enhance compound rate of return.
Estabrook Absolute Return Fund's goal is to achieve attractive absolute rates of return without the volatility and risk to principal usually associated with equity investments.
Enable investors to reduce risk through diversification.
Yale University was the first to introduce (in 1989) the concept of using Absolute Return strategies as an asset class. The concept is now generally accepted. Yale's endowment, for example, traditionally targets approximately a twenty percent (20%) allocation to this asset class.
SidePorch Capital Fund I
Our new offering will allocate capital to invest in early and mid-stage opportunities in food, water and energy systems, building the foundation for future, sustainable economies. We will invest in 8-12 fund managers with strong track records, aligned investment philosophies, and the ability to provide strategic value to their portfolio companies. Importantly, we seek managers with effective evaluation systems for financial and ESG factors, and from these systems we intend to draw insights of interest to both our managers and LPs.
Because our management team and the underlying fund teams have access to substantial deal flow, we anticipate being able to offer opportunities for our LPs to make further co-investments from time-to-time on specific deals.
The SidePorch Fund will generate market-rate returns above others in this class of investments as measured by accepted benchmarks (e.g. the new Cambridge Associates Impact Benchmark)
With access to a range of managers not typically available to investors, we seek to realize our goal by allocating capital among underlying fund managers with strong track records, and with aligned investment philosophies and practices.
We believe that investment and business success in these complex systems requires a sophisticated understanding the financial, social and environmental impact that result from their investments. We will only consider managers with effective evaluation systems intended to improve decision-making abilities.
